Just like we spend billions of dollars searching for life on other planets and trillions of dollars killing life on this one, we dothe same with our bodies. We spend hundreds of pounds trying to make ourselves "look good" on the outside but fail to look after what is going on inside of us. There is an old saying"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". This is true because what is going on inside of us reflects upon us on the outside. Being beautiful definitely is an inside job and just like we need to look after the planet, we need to look after ourselves just as well.
It has been scientifically proven that meditation assists with creating great successes in our lives. Not only does it help on a physical level, it also nourishes spirit and helps us to lead a more calm, peaceful and fulfilled life. Many of the worlds elite meditate regularly and swear by its positive effects on their lives.
As the Dalai Lama said "my religion is very simple. My religion is kindness". Kindness is the most beautiful and attractive quality there is. It matters not what you look like on the outside. What matters is the beauty of your heart.
We have the power inside of us to create an amazing life! With a little bit of knowledge, some determination thrown in for good measure and a desire to change – we discover that we really are the magic wand!
This made me smile and I wanted to share it with you today. We all know what it's like to have pretended to be normal but deep down we know that we are not necessarily. What is normal anyway? Embracing who we are and what we are makes us more lovable than to pretend that we are something that we are not.
From the minute we open our eyes in the morning, we start to set the precedent for the way the rest of the day will turn out. Depending on what our thoughts and actions are - this will determine how our day will be. It is natural to wake up and slip into an automated reactive state. However, we can break that automated cycle by beginning the day with thinking about how we would like our day to be and what we are grateful for. We can inject consciousness into our day and create a day that we really enjoy living and runs smoothly, effortless and is a joy to experience.
As humans we spend far too much time living in the past, thinking about the hurts and the pains of yesterday. This only keeps locked in a negative cycle. We can make a choice, choose to become something different. We can choose to take the wisdom from yesterday and use it to create a beautiful future.
Isn't it wonderful to know that our thoughts have the ability to change our reality? When we think positive and uplifting thoughts, we begin to feel good. When we feel good, we attract wonderful things. When we elicit the wonderful power of our imagination and envisage a great life we activate a remarkable energy in our lives. We set the law of attraction into action and end up creating the very thing that we think about. The power truly is within us.
PULL UP THE STAKES
In India, where baby elephants are trained, CONTROL is established while the elephant is very small. A chain is placed around the baby elephant’s leg and attached to a three foot iron stake which is driven into the ground. Therefore for several days the baby elephant pulls and tugs and strains against the stake and the chain... but he is too small to dislodge it. Soon he is convinced, by this experience, that the three foot stake and chain have the POWER to bind him. He no longer attempts to pull free. TEN YEARS LATER, when the elephant is fully grown — weighing thousands of pounds— capable of uprooting trees — pushing or pulling a loaded railway car— he can still be held by a three foot stake! Yet, if that stake were as big around and planted as deep as a telephone pole, he could easily uproot it!
How does the stake and chain hold the elephant? CONTROL & CONDITIONING. Past experiences, imprints, and impressions that have gone into the subconscious mind will be accepted by the subconscious mind as truths. Those imprints, impressions, and past experiences at times control us. Quite often, we will respond to past experiences in the same way as the elephant. Whether we are consciously aware of it or not, what we tell ourselves will go into the subconscious mind and become part of our belief system. We respond to those beliefs whether they are right or wrong. Example: "I can’t quit smoking." "I can’t lose weight." "I can’t be happy because of what’s going on in my life." "I can’t do anything right."
What is the stake in your life?
If the mere idea of meditating feels uncomfortable--or scary even, that's okay. Exploring unknown territory usually does. But don't worry, you won't turn into a hippie, have to change your friends, or pack up and move to a commune in order to reap the benefits of your meditation practice. This is a gift you're giving yourself and nobody even needs to know you are meditating, but you just might love it so much that you will want to teach your friends and family.
Let's take a moment to get clear on what meditation really is. The term "meditation" can refer to any process that leads you to an inner state of relaxed awareness. There needn't be any big mystery or drama about the process itself, and there's really no right or wrong way of doing it. There are simply different techniques that can be used as tools to help you focus and quiet your mind, and we'll work with some of these as the weeks unfold. This will allow you to choose which method works best for you as a person. I still have a hard time quieting my mind and I find that my meditation practice is more fulfilling for me while I'm in nature. Our main purpose here is to help you develop a meditation practice that's right for you. It'll be something you feel comfortable doing and that you're willing and able to do regularly.
For those of us who already have a meditation routine, we've come to depend on the way our practice enhances our lives. We've discovered an ever-present source of inner peace and wisdom from which we can now draw strength, courage, clarity and compassion. It has become easier to respond to situations from a calm and grounded place, rather than acting out old dysfunctional patterns. We're also better able to navigate our lives in alignment with our own needs and goals. A morning meditation will give you the quiet confidence and the strength you will need for your day. (Daily Om)

I love this short story that my mentor shared with me. It goes "two men in a boat, one of the men is drilling a hole. The other man says "hey, what are you doing!?" The man replies "what do you care, it is on my side!". We genuinely are all in this boat of life together. As we help one person succeed, we create more success for ourself. Literally there is no competition, as we all have unique gifts and talents to offer this world. Therefore the only person that we need to be better than, is the person that we were yesterday.
Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise builds it up. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well you are doing with every little thing.
