It is very easy for us to become complacent on our life journey and to sit back and wait for life events to happen to take us out of our "same old, same old existence". Unfortunately, we tend to stay in the same old for a very long time and things don't seem to change. I've learnt along the way that we get to create life. And instead of life happening to us we can start to make life happen for us. We can create wonderful new opportunities for ourselves and make something magical happened. We certainly do not need to sit back and wait for fate. We can be fate!
I can quite easily say that for many years I was one of the most impatient people on this planet. I didn't want to wait for anything and everything I wanted, I wanted right now. I found it ridiculously frustrating that things had to come in their own good time and I would do whatever I could to try and make things happen right now.
It is only on reflection that I realise not only was I torturing myself but the things that I was trying to make happen right now would be short lived, non-sustaining and cause me more hurt when they failed. I likened it to taking a chicken out of the oven when it was not cooked properly. Eating that chicken when it was raw would only make me sick and I definitely would not enjoy it.
I had to learn to cultivate patience (which was something that was definitely easy for me). However, after a period of time and watching things fail through my non-patience, caltivating patience I soon realised it was a precious gift.
Things in life come when they are meant to and they leave when they are meant to be. Trying to force things to be any other way just meant more misery and upset. I soon learnt that "if it comes, let it if it goes, let it".
Louise and I had a wonderful time running the yoga and mindfulness day retreat on Saturday. Such a beautiful opportunity for the participants to step off the treadmill of life and take time out to rejuvenate their mind, body and soul's. The participants thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
We explored new tools to help them to create the life that they "choose". We also enjoyed some mindfulness practices as well as exploring some relaxation techniques and positive visualisation is. All in all the feedback was very positive and Louise and I very much look forward to running the next one.
What a lovely way to spend half a day! Mixing with other entrepreneurs, enjoying finding out about what they do and having a good old chinwag!
So nice to connect with like-minded people who built their businesses from scratch and every day do what they can for their businesses to grow and expand. Truly heartwarming! Considering most people there had been in previous employment and have now stepped out of the box and created work they truly love. Inspiring.
When I was growing up I would always hear my Dad say that there is no such word as "Can't". And that it only means that we won't or don't know how too. Now in my adult years as I hear myself saying that I can't do something, I soon became aware and ask myself instead "how can I achieve this". Changing the word cant to how can I, it's so freeing and enables us to grow and go beyond our life as we know it.
If had of known all those years that I was struggling in life that I have the power inside of me to create anything that I wanted, I would never ever have wasted the amount of years that I did focusing on the negative and living a life of doom and gloom.
It is only in latter years that I have learnt that indeed "I am my own magic wand". I have learnt that whatever I focus my mind and attention on, I will see more of. Therefore, I came to the powerful conclusion that if I was too focus my mind and attention on positive outcomes, I would then experience them.
I spent many years putting this wisdom to the test and can happily and gratefully report that this wisdom is indeed, very true!
Where attention goes, energy flows. What ever we focus on we see more of in our life. Therefore we may as well focus on the good and will no doubt see more of that!
Believing that you "can" do something, means that you are halfway there to achieving it. Generally, it is our beliefs that determine whether we are successful at something or not. By having the core foundation of belief it means that when we take action, the action will be more meaningful and profound and reep more powerful results.
Examining some of the core beliefs can be really helpful in helping us to achieve our desired outcome. Many times the core beliefs that we hold underneath the surface can sabotage our desired outcome. These beliefs generally go something like this:
What if I fail?
I'm not worthy of having this.
What if I can't do it?
What if I'm not good enough?
These underlying beliefs were once established somewhere in the timeline of our life due to some event that occurred. Working with a trained practitioner and going back to these pockets of pain can be really beneficial in overwriting them and enabling these new beliefs to take hold and in turn helping us to achieve the things we want to achieve in life.
It is so easy for us to get tangled up in fulfilling the needs of others whilst completely forgetting that we have a need too. We often run ourselves into the ground making sure that the people around us have everything that they need and somehow we forget to give ourselves what we need. Eventually our energy tank becomes empty and we either get poorly or we start to resent the people that we are giving too. It is so important to take care of ourselves first so that we are strong and able to give to others. Many people see looking after themselves as being selfish. However, I have come to learn that if we don't look after ourselves first, we are selfish. When we look after ourselves, we feel good. Which means that when we give to others we are giving others the best of ourselves and giving from a place of love and not resentment. Make sure during this Christmas season that you look after yourself so that when you show up for others, they get the best of you.
With the festive season upon us it is all too easy to feel overwhelmed by family and financial commitments. As we get busier and busier it is easy for us to lose sight of taking care of ourselves as slip into an automated stress mode.
Meditation is important now more than ever fire to remain grounded, in control and peaceful as the season swallows us up in its excitement. By mediating regularly we activate the relaxation response in our body and as a result, we approach life through the lenses of peace and enjoy the season and all of its gifts.
It took me a long time to realise that the prison I was in, was the prison of my own mind. My mind had created a version of reality which was far removed from the version of reality that I chose to experience. The way I saw the world was not through the eyes of choice and freedom rather through limitation and restriction.
When I came to realise that I had the opportunity to create my reality by a simple change into pattern, it set me free and on course for a more fulfilling life.
Simply put, when I realised I had the choice of the thoughts that I chose those to think, it made me realise that it changed the feelings that I was able to feel and that changed the way that I saw and reacted to the world. This to me was true freedom.
I am such a great believer that the pictures we show our mind are the pictures we end up experiencing in our life. Science has proven that our subconscious mind does not know the difference between the thoughts that are and the thoughts that are imagined. Our mind actually believes what we think and show it to be true. Yes, we create our reality with the thoughts we think.
With the Christmas season approaching it can quite often be a troublesome time for many financially. However, I share a trick that I use to increase my prosperity whilst having a whole lot of fun!
Nothing more attractive than a woman that has her shit together. Life sucks sometimes but an empowered woman looks a challenge straight in the eye and winks.
I love these infamous words by Eleanor Roosevelt. The more I am beginning to understand the power we have within us the more I realise that the truth within the statement.
Having unwavering faith in our ability to achieve our dreams, utter determination and perseverance means that the life we once only dreamt about becomes our reality.
I often take a moment to reflect back on my life and look at the challenges that I went through. And as I reflect I can see that the challenges gave me a gift. At the time I thought the challenges were breaking me and it was only after I have got through the challenges that I realised they were indeed making me. I gained an inner strength, wisdom and humbleness for life that I would never have experienced had I've not gone through the challenge. Therefore I saw that I grew through everything that I went through.
I have a true believer that dreams really do come true and I totally agree with above that the future belongs to those that believes in the beauty of their dreams.
There are many people that believe success is not available to them and only a luxury available to a select few. I'm a great believer that success is available to everybody.
When it comes to reaching our goals we have to put blinkers on to make sure that we stay completely focused in one direction and don't get influenced by the views and opinions of others.
Be determined, be focused and be persistent and one day the dream you once had will be a reality.
Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise builds it up. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well you are doing with every little thing.
